Day#3 



Day #2 of our Health-a-Thon we talked about making exercise a part of our daily routine. However, exercise alone doesn't make us healthy. We have to eat right!

EAT MORE FRUITS & VEGETABLES

Eat your fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables can improve our health in a powerful way.

Fruits and vegetables are loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, fiber, and disease-fighting phytochemical. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables everyday can help reduce your risk of:
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Type II diabetes
  • Certain cancers    
Other Benefits:
  • Contain lots of fiber which helps to keep your bowels healthy. Problems such as constipation less likely to develop.
  • Naturally low in fat
  • Very filling but are low in calories - so, they are ideal to keep your weight in control. 

Fruits and vegetables are a natural source of energy!  
 
Ways to help you get more fruits and vegetables
 in your daily diet: 
 
  • EXPLORE! Try some fruits and vegetables that you have not tried before. You may be surprise by  what your taste buds like.
  • ADD FRUIT! Add fruit to your breakfast cereal
  • MAKE IT A GOAL! Make it a goal to include at least two vegetables with your main meals.
  • SNACKS! Replace your snacks with a healthy fruit or vegetable.
  • FIRST! Try to eat your vegetables and fruits off your plate. This can help you eat less and at the same time eat healthier! 
So there you have it, EAT MORE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES! YOUR BODY WILL THANK YOU.
